Practical guide · 5 steps
Connect fields with a mapping
Choose the source, target and direction for a field.
Before you start
Use a field mapping to connect two fields. Use an If → Then rule when a condition should determine a new value.
Step by step
Open field mapping
Go to Settings → Rackbeat + Shopify → Rules and controls. Find Field mapping and select Add mapping.
Choose both fields
Choose a Shopify field and a Rackbeat field. Use suggested fields where possible. A technical field key must be known and valid in the relevant system.
Check the direction
For a mapping with a rule, choose Direction. Rackbeat → Shopify uses Rackbeat as source; Shopify → Rackbeat uses Shopify. The source appears first. A plain mapping follows the active data flow.
Choose any value transformation
If the mapping uses a rule, choose its action and complete the related fields. Check empty-value handling and tag handling where applicable. Use the built-in test when shown.
Save and check one record
Select Save settings. Check a relevant item or record after the next processing and compare source and target before using the setup broadly.
In practice
Use the original value in a template
With the compose-values action, {{value}} inserts the source value. Example: {{value}}, rackbeat-sync. Check the result and tag handling so that tags you need are preserved.
What you should see afterwards
The fields are connected in the configuration. Transfer also requires the relevant data flow and permissions to be active.
If you get stuck
- Fields with different data types need extra checking. Text cannot always be written to a numeric or selection field.
- Shopify metafields need an existing definition. Custom Rackbeat target fields depend on account-specific API support.
