Practical guide · 5 steps
Create an If → Then rule
Write a specific value when your condition matches.
Before you start
This guide covers If → Then rules in Shopify + Rackbeat. You need permission to edit settings. Available fields depend on the systems and customer setup.
Step by step
Find the rules
Open Settings → Rackbeat + Shopify → Rules and controls. Find rules and field mapping, then select Create rule.
Choose what to check
Under If, choose the source system and source field. Select the condition and enter a comparison value when requested. Use the value actually stored in the source system.
Choose what to write
Under Then, choose the target field and new value. Check the target system shown above it. For tags, choose whether existing tags should be preserved.
Try a match and a non-match
Expand Test the rule. Enter a sample value that matches, followed by one that does not. The result explains what the rule would do; this test does not transfer data.
Add the rule and save settings
Select Add rule, check its position in the list and select Save settings. When editing, the first button is Save rule; you must still save the overall settings afterwards.
In practice
Example: tag a group of products
Choose Rackbeat and its product group field, if available. Select a specific group and Shopify product tags as the target. Enter wholesale and choose to append while keeping other tags. Test with the actual group value before saving.
What you should see afterwards
The rule is saved for the selected customer and can apply during relevant processing in its chosen direction. Saving a rule does not automatically reprocess all historical data.
If you get stuck
- Rules are evaluated from the top. The first match normally determines the field value; customer rules that append tags can be combined.
- Customer rules targeting Shopify require separate administrator activation. Product or order rules do not enable customer rules.
- Unable to save settings? Add or cancel the rule still open in the editor.
